Having talked with pharm. technologist, once again convincing: how far technologists are from patents, how far they are from chemistry of processes.
In my practice, it is often much more efficient to communicate with business owners or product managers/ Top managers. They understand why they are investing in a product, why they chose a particular item for sale and / or production. What are the benefits of the product market, what problems it solves and so on.
In most of cases it is enough for me to create a patent strategy and I can carry out chemical parts and arguments with my research group. We can crystallize a problem and propose a method for its solution… and it is fun for us. But sometimes I still hope to get information from technologist and every time I’m confused. And I think, it my conclusion, that technologists must be out of this process. Do you agree with me?
Let me show you an example.
Here is the real case, H. sulfate, a known substance for the production of dietary supplements and medicines for arthritis.

Why I give this example.
My disappointment in technologists is increasing every year (despite 22 years experience I still hope). Colleagues, please, share your experience.

Thank you. And what do you think about including technologists to the patent strategy process? I faced with some sad examples ( Gilead for example are losing their rights to Sofosbuvir, because of misunderstanding ( on my mind) between Research and patent department.
