Have a cool business idea or planning to scale an existing venture? Starting September 1, 2026, Ukrainian entrepreneurs will gain even more opportunities. The government grant program “Vlasna Sprava” (Own Business) is launching a major update that will help not just start a business, but also protect your unique developments from theft.

The key feature of this update is that now the state will provide funds for the formal registration of intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, etc.).

💰 How Much Do They Give?

The grant amount will traditionally depend on how many jobs you create, in which sector, and in which region you operate. The funding is divided into two main streams:

• For beginners (business startup): the base amount ranges from 100,000 to 300,000 UAH. However, if you accumulate additional bonuses, the amount can be “boosted” up to 500,000 UAH.

• For experienced entrepreneurs (scaling): if the business is already operating and needs expansion, you can receive from 500,000 to 1,500,000 UAH. The maximum size, including bonuses, is up to 2,500,000 UAH.

🔥 Bonuses to the Grant Size

+5%:

• Recipients aged 18-25 inclusive

+20%:

• Veterans’ entrepreneurship subjects

• Registered as VAT payers

• Hold a valid Ukrainian patent for an invention and/or useful model related to the business project

• IDPs with over 6 months of entrepreneurial experience or relocated enterprises

• Commit to creating 2 new jobs

+30%:

• Operate or plan to operate in frontline regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv oblasts, and Slavutych TC of Kyiv oblast

• Direct the grant to update basic production assets destroyed or damaged due to Russian armed aggression

+50%:

• Implement projects in priority sectors of the economy

🛠 What Can the Funds Be Spent On?

The list of items funded by the state has become very substantial. Grant money can be directed towards:

• Purchase of equipment and transport.

• Renovation and rental of premises.

• Digitalization and automation of processes.

• Marketing, advertising, and brand promotion.

• Construction or reconstruction of workshops and warehouses.

• New: official registration of your copyrights, trademarks, and patents!

💡 Why is “Intellectual Money” Important?

Many entrepreneurs at the start forget about protecting their brand or technology — either due to lack of experience or because every penny goes towards the product. Then they face situations where competitors simply steal their logo or unique product.

The head of the IP office (UkrNOIVI), Olena Orlyuk, emphasizes that in the modern world, a unique idea is a company’s most valuable asset. Without official registration of rights, a business becomes vulnerable: problems arise with attracting investors, selling franchises, or licensing. That’s why the opportunity to cover registration costs through a grant is a chance for Ukrainian entrepreneurs to reliably protect their business even at the business plan creation stage.

What is “Vlasna Sprava”?

It is a government program that provides non-repayable and interest-free money (the money does not need to be returned if you meet the conditions and create jobs). Applications can be submitted by ordinary people who only dream of their own business, as well as existing sole proprietors or companies.

Thanks to this initiative, launched in July 2022, over 34,000 entrepreneurs received state support, and the total funding volume reached nearly 9 billion UAH. Interestingly, over 7,000 microgrant recipients are people who started their own business from scratch. Ultimately, this step helped the labor market grow by over 60,000 new jobs.
