Have you already felt the positive impact of the pandemic?
Written by: Hanna Fleisher

To date, no one has any doubts that the global pandemic has turned the usual view of life upside down. If at first it was considered exclusively in a negative way, now the positive aspects are becoming more and more apparent.

For example, not so long ago, Intectica experts became downshifters and spent an unforgettable month in the middle of winter in Turkey. Let’s be honest, if not for the global lockdown in many other countries, we might never have discovered this country in a completely new way.

A novel vision of the pandemic has been spoted not only by us, but also by the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house. For their latest show, the fashion designers, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology, brought the iCub™ humanoid robot to the runway.

Initially, the iCub project was developed as a part of another project – RobotCub, aimed at studying artificial intelligence, and was already implemented by the Italian Institute of Technology. The robot has a height of 104 cm and the size of a 5-year-old child. It can crawl on all fours, walk, and sit to manipulate objects, and its hands have been designed to support complex manipulation skills. At the moment, more than 30 robots have been created and are available in laboratories in Europe, the USA, Korea and Japan. Moreover, they continue to evolve from a purely research platform to low-cost commercial applications.

Actually, why did the idea of bringing robots to the podium come up? To clearly demonstrate that fashion has always been the result of a merging of worlds that can be very far from each other.

But, why is it interesting from the point of view of intellectual property? As you know, one of the objects of patent protection may be the use of your invention for any purpose, or the use of a known invention for a new purpose. And the past fashion week is an excellent confirmation of the fact that inventions can sometimes find the most unexpected applications. Therefore, when drafting a patent application, it is critical to elaborate all possible areas of use that can subsequently be commercialized. If this is not done, it is highly likely that your competitors will not miss the opportunity to apply your invention in a completely different way, and receive patent protection.

Therefore, if you need to analyze all the possible areas of application of your specific invention, we suggest visiting the territory of professionals in the field of patenting – INTECTICA. Our scientific and patent department will help you plan the protection of your ideas and ensure the protection in all countries of the World. We introduce new products to the market and conduct direct prosecution in the EU countries, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan.
