Invention

Registration period – about 2-5 years from the application filing date.

Confirmation document – Certificate.

Term of validity – 20 years from the application filing date. Patent for invention can be extended for additional 5 years if the patent object is a medicinal product, pesticide or agrochemical, and when the product use requires permission according to the procedure established by law.

What can be protected: product (device, substance, microorganism strain, plant and animal cell culture, etc.); method (process of affecting material object with material resources), including use of the product or method for the specific purpose (for example, for treating diseases).

Utility model

Registration period – about 12-24 months from the application filing date.

Confirmation document – Certificate.

Term of validity – 8 years from the application filing date.

What can be protected: device.

Requirements

1. Applicant information – full name / title and registered office.
2. Inventor information – full name and registration address.
3. Number of International publication (for PCT procedure) or application materials: claims, description, abstract, drawings (for non-PCT procedure; international application was not published).
4. Translation of the application into Russian (we prepare by ourselves).
5. Power of Attorney (no legalization or notarization required) must be submitted within 2 months from the date of filing.
6. Certified copy of the priority application (if priority is claimed) must be submitted within 16 months from the date of filing.

General information

Registration period – around to 8 months.

Confirmation document – certificate of industrial design.

Validity period – 5 years, that can be extended for one or more five-year terms (but no more than 25 years).

What can be protected as an industrial design: the appearance of the product, which is the result of its inherent characteristics, in particular, contours, colors, shapes, structure, materials and patterns.

Official language – application materials are submitted in Armenian and all prosecution is conducted in Armenian

Requirements

  1. Information about the applicant – full name / address of permanent residence, name of the legal entity / address of registration of the legal entity.
  2. Information about the author(s) – full name, address of permanent residence.
  3. Photos or graphic images of the appearance of the product in whole or in part, and for a two-dimensional product – its sample or a sample of its part.
  4. Power of attorney for a representative in intellectual property.
  5. Priority claim with a reference to the date of filing previous application, the number of the previous application and the name of the country or institution where it was filed, as well as a certified copy of the previous application issued by the institution that received it, and a translation of the copy of the application into Armenian (if priority is established).
  6. Exhibition priority claim indicating the type of exhibition, its venue, opening and closing dates, the first exhibition day, as well as a letter confirming the international status of the exhibition issued by the body that held the exhibition (if exhibition priority is established).
